Life in Noto Japan

能登半島ようこそ、Welcome to the Noto Peninsula, a region known for its breathtaking beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

This site is dedicated not only to sharing the experience of life in Noto but also to documenting the recovery efforts and the journey of life in Noto after the devastating earthquake and tsunami on January 1, 2024. This is a space to honor the experiences and resilience of those affected, as we stand together and support one another during this challenging time.

Noto Peninsula: A Land of Breathtaking Natural Beauty and Tradition

Noto Peninsula is located in the northern part of Ishikawa Prefecture in the Hokuriku area of the Chubu region in Japan. Some Japanese feel nostalgic when they visit Noto Peninsula. They often refer to it as the last place where one can visit old Japan.

Goal of Life in Noto Japan Website

Life in Noto Japan Has two main goals. This website aims to actively promote awareness about earthquake preparedness and effective disaster recovery strategies, particularly in response to the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that impacted the Noto Peninsula on January 1st. By sharing valuable information and resources, I hope to empower individuals, especially in the foreign resident community and travelers to Japan, to better prepare for and recover from such events in the future.

My second goal is to utilize my nine years of experience living on the Noto Peninsula to provide insight into rural life in Japan. I hope to highlight the beauty and tranquility of this often-overlooked destination, encouraging others to appreciate and explore what this unique region has to offer.
